In China again since 10 days. As always, impressed by the enthusiasm, dedication and quality of the engineers I have the chance to meet, in fields as different as, this time, Aerospace, Toolmaking or Telecom (including a meeting in the brand new Huawei 9km2 campus, featuring 12 historical European cities – I personnally was in Bologna).

Some personal takeaways from this trip:

– R&D is extremely dynamic. The motto everywhere is: « let’s try to push the limits »;

– China industrial quality standards are rapidly increasing. High level is also expected from suppliers. Swiss SMEs must meet these standards and take this opportunity to progress with their customers;

– Young engineers/scientists in charge are highly professional and not shy of asking tough questions;

– As (almost) every industrial sector is represented in China, cross-sector application projects are easier to build;

– When will we see Chinese electric passenger cars in Europe (all the taxis I rode in Shenzhen were EV)?
